Welcome to Walking Boustead. This website is a collection of information, photos and a few words about walks I have carried out. The majority of the walks have taken place in the Peak district, however I plan to go to the Lake district in the near future to start bagging some Wainwrights.
Weather it be hiking in the countryside or hill walking, you can't beat a good walk in the fresh air. Hiking and hill walking are great ways of getting your body fit, healthy and active, as well as boosting your self-confidence and you also get to see some spectacular sights that you wouldn't get to see driving on the roads.

Next year in April I plan to do the National Three Peaks 24 hour challenge with a group of freinds to raise money for the Childrens Heart Surgery Fund at the Yorkshire heart centre in Leeds general infirmary after my 10 month old daughter had open heart surgery there this year.

The National Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain-endurance challenge in Great Britan, many participants try and complete it within 24 hours. The mountains climbed, in order of elevation, are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, 1,344 metres (4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales, 1,085 metres (3,560 ft), and Scafel Pike in North-Western England, 978 metres (3,209 ft). In all the challenge involves some 26 miles of ascent and descent, with total travel approaching 475 miles.

The Childrens Heart Surgery Fund provides valuable equipment, resources and research for the treatment of children with heart defects and provides a happy and relaxed atmosphere within the hospital for both the children and their families.

Every year 10,000 children pass through our paediatric heart unit at the LGI and approximately 330 of these undergo open heart surgery. Over 40% will need long term care.
